Ceremonial signing of an agreement among the National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA), the National Engineering Research and Development Centre (NERDC) and the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DFAR) for the designing and development of refrigeration system with storage facility for existing multiday fishing boats took place on the 15th of July 2020 at the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources. Hon. Douglas Devananda - Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Hon. Bandula Gunawardene - Minister of Higher education & Technology and Innovation, Mrs. R.M.I. Rathnayake - Secretary to the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Professor A. Navaratnerajah - Chairman/NARA, Mr. L.K.T.C. Lokukumara - Director General/NARA, Dr. H.M.P. Kithsiri - Deputy Director General/NARA, Prof. Leelananda Rajapaksha - Chairman/NERDC, Eng.D D Ananda Namal - Director General/NERDC and Ginige Prassanna Kumara - Director General/ DFAR and other officials attended the event. The main objective of this project is to ensure the quality of the fish harvested in multiday fisheries across Sri Lanka.
