Three members delegation led Dr. Akihiko Murata of Japan Agency for Marine -Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) visited NARA on 11-03-2019 to solicit the support of the National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA) for a joint Indian Ocean Expedition. The expedition to be conducted by the Japanese Oceanographic Research Vessel MIRAI, scheduled for December 5 - 27, 2019 will re-occupy sampling/profiling stations, occupied by the World Ocean Circulation Experient leg ‘IO8N’ of 1995, so that Indian ocean response to the warming climate and the amount of anthropogenic carbon stored into the ocean duing the last two and a half decade could be assessed.
