• Wetland ecosystem management & restoration through inclusive works with stakeholders in the region
• Provide the information for sustainable fisheries management & development through frequent assessments, surveys and studies
• Provide the support for the regional coastal aquaculture and mariculture  development
• Conduct socio-economic studies for the sustainable livelihood development and other social norms
• Disseminate the knowledge and enhance the stakeholder engagement & capacity building in the sector through awareness and training programmes for local stakeholders in northern Sri Lanka
