A Delegation from the Center for Environmental Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (CEFAS) under the Ocean Country Partnership Program (OCPP) visited NARA on 3rd March 2022. A productive and fruitful initial discussion with the OCPP team was held with the participation of Chairman, Director General, Director Monitoring and Evaluation, Heads of the Divisions and other senior and junior scientists.
As the CEFAS delegation, Dr. Umberto Binetti, Marine Litter Senior Scientist -OCPP Sri Lanka South Africa Country Lead, Dave Sivyer -OCPP Sri Lanka South Africa next country lead, Briony Silburn, Marine Scientist and Charlotee Reeve, OCPP Sri Lanka South Africa Country deputy participated the initial discussion.
The collaboration between NARA and the UK government started under the Commonwealth Litter program (CLiP) and will continue for the next five years under OCPP. This program will provide the technical assistance in marine science to partner countries supporting them to overcome challenges that threaten marine environment and the livelihood that depend on them. This program will work across 3 main themes; Marine Pollution, Sustainable seafood and Biodiversity loss
