The ornamental fish industry is one of the major foreign exchange earning sectors of Sri Lanka. However, due to the current economic crisis in the country, the increase in the price of ornamental fish feed and the shortage of ornamental fish feed have adversely affected the survival of this industry. As a solution, a one-day practical training program for small-scale ornamental fish farmers in Kalutara district on "production of ornamental fish feed using locally available fish feed ingredients" was held at Nara Regional Research Center Panapitiya, Kalutara in 28th July 2022. For this, members representing ornamental fish culture association of Kalutara district participated, where more space was allotted for practical activities on producing ornamental fish feed for their own fish farming by using locally available fish feed ingredients
