Online free Webinar was held by National Aquatic Resource Research and Development Agency (NARA), with the collaboration of National Aquaculture Development Authority of Sri Lanka (NAQDA) and Ministry of Fisheries on the 24th of August, 2022 from 9.00am to 12.00pm. The theme of the webinar was “Foreign Exchange through Ornamental Plant Industry” and the presentations were accommodated on a wide range of topics, including Introduction to Aquatic Plants, Culture Methods of Aquatic Plants, Export Certification of Ornamental Aquatic Plants and Current Demand for the Aquatic Plants locally and internationally and Marketing. Over 300 participants from different areas participated the webinar.

The welcome speech was delivered by Professor. M.J.S.Wijeyaratne, Chairman, NARA. The presentations were delivered by Mr. Chamila Jayaweera, Assistant Director, NAQDA, Dr.K.K.T.Nuwansi, Senior Scientist, NARA, Mrs. Champika Hewage, Director General Technical, Ministry of Fisheries, Mrs. Gayani  Wijayathilaka, Assistant Director, Export Development Board (EDB).Vote of thanks was given by Dr. (Mrs) Prajani Heenatigala, Head/ Inland Aquatic Resources and Aquaculture Division, NARA. 

Main objectives of this webinar was to enhance aquatic plants industry to export level, knowledge sharing with the community and to improve income of planters.
