The NARA Scientific Sessions 2022 was held as virtual conference on the 21st of October, 2022. The session theme is “Collective Action for Blue Economy” and totally 78 papers presented under the wide range of themes, including Fisheries and Aquaculture, Aquatic Biotechnology and Animal Health, Oceanography and Hydrography, Fisheries Socio-economic and Marketing, Aquatic Postharvest Technology, Aquatic Environment, Conservation and Management, Climate Change, Application of GIS and Remote Sensing in Aquatic Sciences.
The Inauguration ceremony was graced by Professor M.J.S. Wijeyaratne, Chairman,NARA. The key note address was made by Mr. Vimlendra Sharan, FAO Representative, Sri Lanka and the Maldives. The Chief Guest Hon. Douglas Devananda, Ministry of Fisheries speech was read by Professor M.J.S. Wijeyaratne, Chairman,NARA. Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr.H.M.P. Kithsiri, Director General/NARA.
The presenters include researchers in various disciplines at NARA, universities and other line institutes of Sri Lanka. Session speakers inspired the gathers, sharing their new findings and innovative ideas to have healthier aquatic environment with substantial economic growth. Over 200 participants joined the session virtually.
