One of the programmes organized by NARA, to commemorate the World Fisheries Day was conducted on 21 st November 2017 at Kuttidoowa fishing community, Negambo. In this occasion 50 sets of school equipments has been distributed to 50 school children in the area. In addition to this, a health camp also organized at the Kuttidoowa area on 20th November 2017.
Hon Mahinda Amaraweera, Minister of Fisheries & State Minister of Mahaweli Development honored this occasion with the participation of Dr Anil Premaratne, Chairman NARA, Mr. Buddhika Iddamalgoda Director General NARA, Mr Christilal Fenando Director General, Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and a large gathering of fishing community.
In this occasion TAB computers were distributed by the Department of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources to fishers.
