International Scientific Session 2018

The International Scientific Sessions 2018 is being held from 25th – 26th July 2018 at the Auditorium of National Aquatic Resource Research and Development Agency (NARA), Colombo 15, Sri Lanka. The session theme is “Innovative aquatic research towards blue-green economic development” and sessions are accommodated on a wide range of themes, including Fisheries and Aquaculture, Aquatic Biotechnology and Animal Health, Coastal and Marine Habitat Enhancement, Oceanography and Hydrography, Socio-Economics and Marketing, Aquatic Post Harvest Technology, Coastal and Marine Pollution, Conservation and Management of Aquatic Environment, Climate Change and its Impacts.

As the leading research organization on the living and non-living aquatic resource sector, NARA contributes in knowledge sharing by conducting high quality research of national and international standards.

The Inauguration ceremony was graced by Hon. Gamini Wijith Wijayamuni Zoysa, Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development and Rural Economy. The key note address was made by Prof. Gunapala Nanayakkara, Additional Director General, National Institute of Education. The Guest of honour speech was delivered by Ms. Sashikala Premawardhane, Director General, Ocean Affairs and Climate Change Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mrs. D. K. R.  Ekanayake Secretary to the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development and Rural Economy and other distinguish invitees of representing different institutions and universities were among the participants.  

At the inaugural ceremony the NARA publication on “Hydrography Services”, “Sayuru Netha” and “Ornamental Fish Culture” were presented to the chief guest.

The presenters include researchers in various disciplines at NARA, universities and other line institutes of Sri Lanka. Session speakers will inspire the gathers sharing their new findings and innovative ideas to have healthier aquatic environment with substantial economic growth.
